Regarding the article “Army chief in Pakistan feels heat on ties to U.S.” (June 17): The United States has given the Pakistan military billions of dollars in aid since 9/11 to help Washington combat terrorism. Have we Americans gotten our money’s worth?
Well, consider this: The United States recently pulled off its most successful victory against terrorism with the killing of Osama bin Laden in the heart of Pakistan — and what does the Pakistan government do? It arrests five Pakistani informants who helped the C.I.A. keep watch on Bin Laden’s compound before the raid.
This reveals how Pakistan feels about Amercia’s actions and our war on terrorism.
I think it is time that we start severely reducing aid to Pakistan. As things stand, we are wasting our money.
